Mr Anoop Jaiswal
Anoop Jaiswal is an IPS officer of great caliber who retired from police service after 35 years of meritorious work. He retired as DGP 9 years back. He is called the Buddha of the police as he is so gentle but extremely effective in executing his plans seamlessly. Very compassionate, he always thinks from the other man’s perspective and always operates on a You win, and I also win attitude. He is a man with a back bone and extraordinary humility; offers solutions to complex problems.
Mr Anoop Jaiswal is from Gorakhpur in U.P did his schooling from the Sainik school in Nainital, did his graduation and post graduation in Physics from the Delhi University in 1977. He became an IPS officer out of the batch of 1980. Mr Anoop Jaiswal wanted to become a Professor of Physics but it was Providence that landed him in the police department. However his son Dr Manu Jaiswal has fulfilled his father’s desire now by becoming a professor of Physics in IIT, Chennai.
Mr Anoop Jaiswal’s first posting was at Ambasamudram as SP.
His approach to solving crimes were very different and one could read it from the book called "Tuticorin" - dealing with many crimes - written by Mr Sudarshan and is a best selling book.
Mr Anoop Jaiswal has served under 4 Prime Ministers of India. He has also interacted with Nelson Mandela, the first President of South Africa during his visit to India.
He worked in various capacities in the police with a long stint in the IB. During the last 10 years of his career he was IGP Administration, ADGP CBCID, ADGP – Armed police, ADGP – Intelligence, ADGP – Head Quarters, ADGP – Training in TN police Academy, DGP – Chairman in TN police housing corporation where he was instrumental in constructing 3500 houses for inspectors and sub inspectors at Melakkottaiyur. He was DGP – law and order during the Lok Sabha elections and DGP – Tamil Nadu Uniformed service recruitment board until his retirement in 2015 June.
He is the recipient of The President’s Medal for Meritorious service. Also the President’s Medal forDistinguished service.
He is also the head of the Theosophic Science department in the Theosophical Society.
