Marja Artamaa
Marja Artamaa was born in Finland, but resides now at the International Headquarters of the Theosophical Society in Adyar from 2014 as the International Secretary. She is retired from positions in Information and Communication Technology.
Marja knew about the Theosophical Society through her parents and grandparents, yet decided to join it independently in 1978 after getting acquainted with a few meditation and spiritual groups that came to Finland. Theosophy provides a wide and deep worldview that made her feel at home. In the field of theosophy, she worked in various functions in a lodge, the board of the Finnish Section, and the European Federation. She was the General Secretary of the Finnish Section from 2007 until 2015, 8 years before moving to Adyar in 2014.
She feels very happy at Adyar and wishes that many would visit there.

Marja Artamaa is a third‑generation theosophist from Finland who joined the Theosophical Society in 1978. Since 2014, she has served as International Secretary of the Theosophical Society, Adyar, India.
Professionally, she worked for nearly four decades as an ICT specialist in project and quality management, leading international software projects for banks and conducting quality assessments in the banking and insurance sectors.
Her extensive service to the Theosophical Society includes roles as Lodge President, librarian, editor of Teosofi magazine, and General Secretary of the Finnish Section. She revived the Theosophical Order of Service in Finland in 2008 and served as Treasurer of the European Federation of the Theosophical Society for 16 years. She has organized major international events, including the European Congress, International Conventions, and World Congresses in Singapore (2018) and Vancouver (2025). She also contributed to the work of the Naarden International Theosophical Centre in the Netherlands.
Guided by the principle that every task in the Society is an opportunity to serve and learn, she continues to dedicate her life to the worldwide work of the Theosophical Society.
